Welcome to the virtual roda. As in a real roda the games are controlled by the soul of capoeira - listen to the music, and play that kind of game. If you have any complaints about material on this forum please contact Brabo at [email protected].

Topic: What question would you ask a Mestre?

As some of may already be aware we have a Mestre vsiting next week. Mestre Roxinho an angoliero who harks from Bahia and is now based in Sydney. He will be taking a workshop on 14th of November.
I will try to setup an interview with Roxinho and with a bit of luck we might be able to post the interview on this site.

So what would you like to ask him?

Lucifer,

a. How does Capoeira in Sydney differ from Bahia?

b. How has your understanding of Capoeira changed within the last [number] years?

c. Where changes have you seen in Capoeira (all styles)?
c1. for the better
c2. for the worse

d. Where would you like to see Capoeira heading in the future?

e. What advice can you give to help a beginner in Capoeira?

Are these questions ok?

What part of capoeira philosphy is known to only to a few people today?

How did pastinha play? I heard he sing a ladainha for every new pair of players at his feet

what aspect of capoeira should we aim to always keep in the roda?

According to the email that Tucano sent out, Mestre Roxinho is a student of Mestre Virgilio, someone that I'm very keen on learning more about, so my questions would be:

1. What is Mestre Virgilio's background (i.e. who was his Mestre etc)?
2. How did Mestre Roxinho first get involved with capoeira? How did Mestre Virgilio first get involved with capoeira?
3. What aspects of Mestre Roxinho's (and Mestre Virgilio's) capoeira are unique?

Cheers Lucifer
