Kia ora koutou!

In 2015 we are excited to be holding our Easter Encounter in the Wellington region for the first time ever, with our own Mestre Brabo, and visiting guest teacher Contra Mestre Danny from the group Semente do Jogo de Angola (Mestre Jogo de Dentro) in Campinas.

The encounter will run all Easter Weekend, starting on the morning of good Friday and running through until late Monday afternoon. Each day will include a programme of movement and music workshops, rodas, discussions and other activities plus healthy meals in between.

The event will be held at Wainuiomata marae - for a google map of the location, click here.

Guest Teacher - Contra Mestre Danny

Danny received the prestigious title of Contra Mestre from his master Mestre Jogo de Dentro in 2023. He has been teaching Capoeira Angola for well over half a decade, continuing to pass on the fundamentals and traditions he has learned from his time as a central member of the group Semente do Jogo de Angola. He lives and teaches in Campinas, São Paulo where he is the leader of a well established nucleus of Semente do Jogo de Angola. The 2015 Easter Encounter will be his first time in New Zealand, and he will be building on the work of his Mestre and fellow students of Mestre Jogo de Dentro who have previously visited and taught in Aotearoa: Mestre Colette and Contra Mestre Formigão.
