Auckland Beginners' Block Courses

Venues: Capoeira Academy and Cultural Centre, 29 Randolph St. Newton

Start times: Mondays 6-7.30pm, wednesdays 7.30 - 9pm and Thursdays 7-9pm

Next block starts: We are presently moving to a new space and in the process of finalising details. We can confirm that there will be beginner classes starting from the 20 April, and that beginners can start any week in the month. But please keep checking back here for more details or email tucano @ capoeira.org.nz for queries - thanks for your patience!

Beginner classes are aimed to give people a broad introduction to capoeira. Classes will cover the physical and musical aspects, the cultural and historical background, and the ideas which make capoeira what it is. You will learn some of the movements in sequences for training and learn how to participate in the capoeira event, the roda (pronounced haw-dah). On conclusion of the course you will be ready to cope with everything you need to join regular classes!

Bring loose long trousers, t-shirt, soft flat soled shoes (optional) and water.

Course fee of $100 also allows you to attend the other Monday, wednesday or Thursday beginners classes within those 8 weeks. Beginners are at times separated and then together with the general class.
